In her first competition as part of the United States National Team, University of Alabama freshman Callan Buck finished fifth in the preliminary round of the 3-meter board competition at the 18th FINA Junior Diving World Championships being held in Tucson, Ariz. this week, advancing to the finals.
Former University of Alabama Crimson Tide infielder Matt Downs was called up by the Houston Astros Tuesday, Sept. 1 and will be available to play in this Saturday's road game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The announcement said that “mitigating circumstances” set the penalty at a two-game suspension rather than four games.
