Arizona State's women's basketball game against Utah was less than four minutes old Sunday when coach Charli Turner Thorne went to her bench. Actually, Turner Thorne didn't go to her bench as much as she emptied it. She subbed in for all five starters even though the Sun Devils led 4-2. From that point on, Turner Thorne didn't go more than 3 minutes and 14 seconds without making at least one substitution.

Darin Gillies goes deep in ASU baseball's win in Surprise

Starting right-hander Darin Gillies put together a career-long outing and three Sun Devils collected two RBIs each as Arizona State defeated Santa Clara 9-6 on Thursday in the first day of the Sanderson Ford College Baseball Classic at Surprise Stadium. Gillies (1-1) struck out a season-high six over a career-long six innings to earn his first win of the season.
