Tay Waller, Brendon Knox and the rest of Auburn's seniors gave both themselves and their coliseum a nice farewell. Auburn defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs 89-80 in the final men's basketball contest in the storied history of Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum Wednesday night. Auburn's six seniors combined to score 78 of Auburn's 89 points on Senior Night as the Tigers were led by Tay Waller's 22 points and Brendon Knox's 21 in the victory. A pair of six-run fourth innings gave Auburn just enough of a cushion to earn 7-6 wins in both games of a doubleheader with Davidson on Wednesday at Plainsman Park. Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum has been a fixture on the Auburn University campus for the past 42 years. It has seen many noteworthy events in Auburn history and has been the place where countless Auburn students have walked across the stage, turned the tassel and culminated their time on the Plains.

Jan. 11, 1969 -- Auburn men defeat LSU and Pete Maravich, 90-71, in the first game played at Memorial Coliseum. A crowd of 11,166 is in attendance for the arena's opener. Senior forward Wally Tinker scored the first basket in arena history with a 7-foot jumper from the right baseline.
