A rough end at home

After consecutive wins over top-25 teams, Indiana struggled offensively and made a key late defensive mistake, falling to Nebraska 70-60 at home on Senior Night, a loss that was a major blow to Indiana's NCAA Tournament hopes.

Game Analysis: Nebraska 70, IU 60 [$]

Indiana never led once Wednesday night in a 70-60 loss to Nebraska. Having Noah Vonleh didn't help, but not being able to make shots hurt even more. Yogi Ferrell was 4-of-14 from the field and 1-of-10 from 3-point range. Here is our analysis of what looked good and what needs to improve for the Hoosiers moving forward.

Coverage Central: Nebraska 70, Indiana 60 [$]

The Hoosiers desperately needed a win, but came up short at home on Senior Night. Now, Indiana likely needs to win the Big Ten Tournament to make the Big Dance.

Indiana Falls to Nebraska, 70-60

Walter Pitchford and Shavon Shields each scored 17 points Wednesday, and Nebraska's defense held off Indiana's second-half rally for a 70-60 victory.

The Minute After: Nebraska

Thoughts on a 70-60 loss to the Cornhuskers: After back-to-back wins over ranked opponents, the Hoosiers seemed ready to avenge their loss to the Cornhuskers in Lincoln, keeping their slim NCAA Tournament at-large hopes alive in the process. But they fell short, just couldn’t get over the hump, and it’s another heartbreaker on senior night. IU drops home finale to Nebraska

Indiana fell 70-60 to Nebraska during its home finale tonight. The Hoosiers fell to 17-13 overall and 7-10 in the Big Ten. They finish the regular season at Michigan on Saturday.

Quick Thoughts: Nebraska

The goal for Indiana basketball was to avoid a Senior Day letdown for the second consecutive season. The Hoosiers' loss to Ohio State in last season's home finale stung for a team that included one of the most memorable senior classes in program history. 2013 had to be different, right?

Hoosiers Win Home Opener, 2-1, Over Xavier

Cincinnati native Kyle Hart shutout one his hometown universities for seven innings, guiding #17 Indiana (5-5) in a tight 2-1 victory over Xavier (5-4) in the 2014 Hoosier home opener. Reliever Luke Harrison breezed through the final four batters to seal the win and earn his first career save.

Indiana loses on Senior Night, 70-60 [$]

The one thing that is clear coming out of Wednesday's Indiana-Nebraska game is that the Hoosiers are down to a single scenario for making the NCAA Tournament: IU needs to win next week's Big Ten Tournament. Nebraska came into Assembly Hall Wednesday and left with a 70-60 victory that gave the Cornhuskers a season sweep of the Hoosiers.

Indiana vs. Nebraska: Game Thread

Here is tonight's game thread. The drink of the game will be a White Russian and we will be focusing on keeping the game atmosphere to as Dude as possible. Please, no un-dudelike actions. We will be sending off Will Sheehey, Taylor Wayer, Jeff Howard and Evan Gordon for senior night and hopefully it can be done in a victorious manner. The Hoosiers will first need to find a way to slow down Terran Petteway and exploit their size advantage. Last I heard Noah Vonleh is still questionable so it may

Hoosier Breakdown: Husker scouting report

Indiana is halfway there. Two big wins down, two bigger games remain. Still, a place many didn't figure to see Indiana; very alive and well. A lot of quality work still needed, but all you can ever ask for is an opportunity. The Hoosiers certainly have that chance to dance.

A good ride for a 4-year walk-on [$]

Jeff Howard went to Indiana as a walk-on knowing his primary role would be as a scout-team player. This season, the former Westfield High School standout has gotten more of a role on the court. "It's been a good ride," he said.

Daniels previews two trips this month

Warren (Ohio) Harding's James Daniels is the No. 3 ranked offensive center in the 2015 class, and his offer list reflects that ranking. He will see two schools that have offered later this month.

Hoosiers Host Nebraska: Try to Tie the Season Together

It's senior night in Assembly Hall and this game means more than anything so far this season. It's not a win or go home game, but the loser is likely completely off (or has no chance of getting on) the bubble. In the infamous words of Walter Sobchak, "Dude, this is a league game, this determines who enters the next round robin. Am I wrong?". Hopefully that means that Nebraska will be entering a world of pain as the Hoosiers and especially Will Sheehey feel the need to run the Huskers out of th

Big Ten Power Poll: Some Questions Remain edition

A weeklyish ranking of Big Ten basketball teams, with results and commentary Things can change a lot in the Big Ten standings in the next few days, but Michigan has resolved who the top team in the regular season conference play was, with their destruction of the Illini last night. I mean, 16-for-23 on threes? That's just mean. 1. Michigan (14-3, 22-7) W @ Purdue (OT) 77-76, W v Minnesota 66-56, W @ Illinois 84-53 So, the Wolverines clinched an outright Big Ten championship in convincing fash

At the bottom of that list: Nebraska. Fast forward more than four months, and the end of the season is near. Indiana vs. Nebraska: Full Homersota Preview II

Full Homersota (adj): The act of completely favoring your team, regardless of prior performance or even logic. Coined by GoAUpher of Off-Tackle Empire. The place: Assembly Hall, Bloomington, Indiana, USA The teams: The "UNL, not NU MaizeShuckers" (aka the Nebraska Cornhuskers), and your Indiana Hoosiers! Ready to go out with a bang [$]

Evan Gordon fulfilled a near lifelong dream to wear the Indiana uniform this season. Now the Indianapolis senior hopes to "go out with a bang" as he winds up a college career that included two stops before a return to his Hoosier roots.

A player to watch: Nebraska [$]

The first reason Noah Vonleh is a player to watch Wednesday night will be to determine if he can even play after missing the Ohio State game Sunday with an injury. But once he has gone through warmups and is OK, then the big Indiana freshman needs to have a solid performance to help IU against a good Nebraska team at Assembly Hall.

IU Insider Blog: One game at a time [$]

Talk radio was abuzz Tuesday about whether Michigan would potentially rest players if it wrapped up the Big Ten title Tuesday night, which it did. First of all, no that's not going to happen. But second, Indiana has bigger things to worry about with a good Nebraska team coming to town tonight.

Scouting Report: Nebraska [$]

Nebraska took down the Hoosiers in Lincoln, Neb. earlier this season, erasing a 13-point halftime deficit to beat IU 60-55. Starting with that win, the Cornhuskers are 7-2 in their last nine games. Can they keep continue rising up the conference standings with another win?

Hoosier Game Day: Nebraska [$]

Indiana will be out for its third victory in a row tonight against Nebraska in a 7 p.m. Senior Night contest at Assembly Hall. A win would get the Hoosiers to 8-9 in the Big Ten with one game to play against 2014 Big Ten champion Michigan Saturday in Ann Arbor.

Snome, Sweet Snome

The #TeamOfTheNorth practiced Tuesday in preparation for their home opener, but the field required some maintenance that, well ... LET'S JUST SAY MIAMI DOESN'T EVER HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS. Speaking of Miami, and before we get into the article, anyone writing about college baseball would be remiss if they did not mention the efforts of Miami Hurricanes senior pitcher Javi Salas, who went 27 up, 27 down in the University of Miami's second-ever perfect game. State of the U has an excellent write

Will’s Rise

Indiana coach Tom Crean walked into the locker room and saw Will Sheehey getting mobbed by his teammates. It was Feb. 27, just six days ago, and the Hoosiers had just defeated then-No. 20 Iowa, 93-86, in Assembly Hall. And Sheehey, Indiana’s lone fourth-year senior on scholarship, had just recorded a career-high 30 points, along […]The post Will’s Rise appeared first on Inside the Hall | Indiana Hoosiers Basketball News, Recruiting and Analysis.
