Kenny Phillips knew what people were thinking when the Giants signed Antrel Rolle for $37 million on the first day of free agency. He knew some took it as a sign the Giants were worried he’d never make it all the way back.
But Phillips insists those fears are completely unfounded. In fact, he told the Daily News earlier today that his recovery from left knee surgery is on track to have him on the field for the start of training camp in July.
And once he’s there, he plans to help Rolle make goo

I believe that I can safely say that most of us Giants fans were very satisfied with Hakeem Nicks' rookie season. He had a very solid season statistically and looks to be a franchise wide receiver (not to mention he stayed out of trouble, unlike some former Giants receivers).
I thought it would be fun to compare Hakeem Nicks' rookie season stats with the season stats of the receivers we begged Jerry Reese to pursue in free agency last year.
Hakeem's 2009-2010 statistics are

Here is a chunk of the Giants official press release announcing the signing of backup quarterback Jim Sorgi.
Sorgi is looking forward to working with his second Super Bowl MVP from the Manning family.
"Both are elite players," said Sorgi. "I had a great time working with Peyton, and I learned a lot, obviously. The experience was invaluable as far as my development as a professional. I hate to see my time in Indianapolis come to an end, but I am as excited about working with Eli as I am sad

If Eli goes down I give up anyway, but Jim Sorgi isn't the worst guy to bring in. At least he worked with Peyton for 6 years, not that he can teach Eli anything Peyton hasn't already. Sorgi's stats aren't horrible either even though he barely plays an 89.9 career QB rating isn't bad. Six TD's one INT and 2 fumbles career, in 6 years that isn't much game time experience. Hopefully we never have to find out how good he really is. It's just a backup that won't sniff the field but are you g

One day after the Giants’ doctors expressed concern over quarterback Jim Sorgi’s shoulder, the team decided to sign him anyway.
Sorgi, who spent the last six years as Peyton Manning’s backup in Indianapolis, will now be Eli Manning’s backup in New York. He signed the deal late last night, according to a team source, despite worries that a torn labrum in his shoulder probably needed surgery.
More to come …

But ... isn't there always a 'but?' I do have some requests.

SI.com's Peter King is not impressed by the New York Giants signing of Antrel Rolle.
In the middle of a rant disparaging the usefulness of big-name, big-money signings (which I generally agree with) King listed the Rolle signing as among the three worst decisions of free agency thus far (which I disagree with).
The Giants paying Antrel Rolle like the best safety in football when he hasn't performed that way. Rolle was the second-best safety on his own team. How many times have you watched Ariz

Kicker Rhys Lloyd will not be trying out for the Giants tomorrow because he has apparently agreed to terms on a contract with the Minnesota Vikings tonight.
The 27-year-old kicker, who spent the last two seasons as the Carolina Panthers’ kickoff specialist, said via Twitter a few minutes ago that “As of an hour ago. I am a viking.” He went to Minnesota first and was planning to stay there overnight regardless, before visiting the Giants in New Jersey tomorrow.
Now the Giants will have to look

As predicted last week, there's been a shakeup in some of the mock drafts in the wake of the NFL Combines. There are a few names linked to the Giants this week for the first time since the mock drafts started. Some of them seem to be reaches, some are the result of guys falling.
All of that said, the most popular selection for the Giants is...drumroll please...still DT Brian Price of UCLA, for the 4th week in a row. I have a feeling I'm going to be typing this paragraph a lot until the draft g

Quarterback Jim Sorgi worked out for the Giants today and felt he did well, but team doctors expressed “concerns” over his shoulder, which likely means he won’t be signing with them any time soon.
Though “the door is not closed, by any means,” according to Sorgi’s agent, Matt Brei, it appears the Giants will be looking in another direction. Though Sorgi was still at the Giants’ facility in mid-afternoon and the sides were still talking, Brei said the discussion was not about contract numbers. I
