The Patriots, who have three second-round picks, may also enter fray
Via ESPN Sacramento yesterday, PFT is confirming a report that the Niners are talking to Leon Washington. Per a league source, Washington has spoken with the Niners. There is some interest; however, no visit has been scheduled yet. Other teams are also interested, we’re told. We don’t currently know who they are. By tendering Washington at a second-round [...]
Although the UFA compensatory picks will not be announced officially for approximately two weeks, there is some bad news from AdamJT13, a blogger who has been projecting the compensatory picks for the last decade and has an accuracy rate of approximately 75%. New York Jets — The Jets will not receive a comp pick. They signed [...]
The Patriots hosted Jets RFA (now UFA) Marques Murrell on Monday according to Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston. Murrell seemed to have a lot of promise, but it would seem that Ryan has placed the priority of making Jamaal Westerman the project player for this defense. Ryan has lauded Westerman as a flexible player for his [...]
In case you are interested, some quotes from Kerry Rhodes after yesterday’s press conference with the Cardinals. You can watch the presser on the Cardinals website. My thoughts at the very bottom. On the trade “In this league, you know there is always a chance for a change. I am not sitting here saying that I thought [...]
Last Friday we talked with readers during the Friday Live Chat about the potential for a team like the Patriots to make a play for Leon Washington. Could it happen? With the Patriots offense in flux, and sure backfield option Kevin Faulk out the door, would there be a market for Washington? Via ESPN Insider: … [...]
Tannenbaum feels “set” with Smith and Diggs. Why do I get the feeling he is lying through his teeth? Cecilo’s Scribe gives us his thoughts on Rhodes departure. Things just didn’t “mesh well” between Rhodes and the team. Anybody for some Coles 3.0? TOTJ wonders where New York will go now. The Jets have a few holes to fill and this [...]
Former Jets safety Kerry Rhodes, introduced Monday as the newest member of the Cardinals, acknowledged problems with his old coaches and suspected he might get traded. "We weren't seeing eye to eye as a player and a franchise," said Rhodes.
It appears the interest between the Jets and wide receiver Laveranues Coles is mutual. Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum yesterday sounded amenable to the possibility of re-signing Coles, who left the Jets last year to sign a big free-agent contract with the Bengals. Coles was released by the Bengals last...
Former Jets S Kerry Rhodes made his debut in Arizona today, facing the media in his first news conference. He was asked a couple of questions about his divorce from the Jets, the only NFL team he'd known, and this is what he had to say: "We weren't seeing eye to eye as a player and a franchise," said Rhodes, wearing a Cardinal red sweater. "I've got a lot of respect for those guys -- they gave me my start and they gave me a big deal to stay around for awhile -- but we just didn't mesh well
I certainly hope the Jets have some plan in place because right now the 2009 team is falling apart at the seams. According to Rich Cimini, Wallace Wright has decided to go home and sign on with the Carolina Panthers. This comes after Wright, a special teams standout, was not offered a contract by the FO. Former [...]
Mike Tannenbaum spoke to reporters today, and spoke about Tony Richardson and the Jets desire to bring him back. FB Tony Richardson is planning to play at least one more season, according to Tannenbaum. Richarson is an unrestricted free agent. Tannenbaum said it’s a “priority” to re-sign Richardson, but he also talked up practice-squad FB Jason [...]

Among the highlights: * Tannenbaum confirmed today's Daily News story, saying the team is interested in former Jets WR Laveranues Coles. Tannenbaum said he already has texted Coles and has spoken to his agent. As Bassett reported earlier, the Jets were heading to the bargining table with Ben Hartsock. Apparently they were able to come to come to an accord quickly as “a league source” reports that the Jets and Hartsock have agreed to “terms” that will keep him in Green and White. Details of the deal have yet to come to light. Per [...]
So who’s going to be the new safety for the Jets now with the team having traded Kerry Rhodes? Hutch thinks it’s Eric Smith, at least as it stands right now. Eric Smith, who started two games in place of Rhodes last season, will likely get the first crack at replacing Rhodes. The organization also likes [...]
The Jets kept one of their own unrestricted free agents today, signing TE Ben Hartsock to a two-year contract, a source told the Daily News. The amount of the deal wasn't immediately available. This is an under-rated signing. Hartsock was maligned last season because of a couple of killer penalties -- including a holding call that may have cost the game against the Bills _ but he graded out as an exceptional blocking tight end. He's a good complement to Dustin Keller, the Jets' pass-catching
Six-year veteran was primary run blocker at tight end position
