OK, as the mind officially wanders and starts locking in to "gameday mode", here are a few thoughts for tomorrow's game. What I DREAM To Happen:Simmons busts a huge KOR and sparks a great opening drive with Persa marching us in for a quick seven to take control of the game. Our "D" serves up a 3-and-out.Venric Mark on his very first PR takes one to the house for the first PR for a TD since Marquice Cole in 2005. Arby Fields actually plays and breaks 100 yards. We haven't had a 100-yard rusher
coachfitz51: Sherrick McManis made the 53 man roster for the Houston Texans! Congratulations "Batman"! (Northwestern was his only D1 offer out of HS)

Get the "N" Flags Out! Which bowl do YOU think we'll be hanging them at this year? (photo courtesy Robert N.)It's as if Mother Nature wanted to send a reminder. The temperature dropped some 25 or so degrees last night RIGHT in the middle of CFB watching (and unfortunately messed with the satellite signal). The fall-like temps this morning had me all fired up and I've been getting quite a few Northwetern "N" Flag reminders this week. It's time to dust off the flag, and get it hoisted. Gameday

All the talk about NU ticket sales and marketing and just like that a Vandy team on the heels of a 2-10 season is expecting a near sell-out for Saturday night's game. Granted, Vanderbilt Stadium seats about 10,000 less than No new injury update news on Warren Norman, but as you read this article from the Tennessean you get the sense he'll be the miracle man and be in the backfield.

Starting outside linebacker Bryce McNaul will not play in Northwestern's season opener against Vanderbilt on Saturday night. The redshirt junior, who won the weakside linebacker job in preseason camp, is sidelined with a shoulder injury. He is one of six Wildcats who will not play in the game.

Wow. The LTP email inbox is burning. I can't recall a day that has had such tirade and profanity-laced emails. Using this filter as my pulse on NU, the Wildcat season ticket holders, particularly new ones, are incensed. I'm paraphrasing a collective group of emails that basically say:"I'm ticked. NU totally duped me. They tell us that getting season tickets is the only way to secure Wrigley Field tickets. They promote a "40% increase" in season ticket sales. Then, to scratch out more tic

...Northwestern sent a seismic shock through the college football world. A 28-point underdog, the Cats stunned 9th-ranked Notre Dame, 17-15, in South Bend to open what would become a magical run to the 1996 Rose Bowl for Steve Schnur, Bryan LaBelle and the Wildcats. Relive the memories of a day that no NU fan will ever forget.

November 27, 2010 - NU @ WisconsinWe like this series. It's always entertaining and has a slew of memories - on both sides - since 1995. We actually like the Badgers ranked as we've won 3 of the last 4 when they've been ranked (wins in 2009, 2005, 2003). Mr. Bielema prays we're not ranked as he's just 1-7 against ranked Big Ten teams. Unfortunately this is one of the major casualties of the new alignment. It will be our last meeting with Wisky until 2013 which is a shame. I wish they would

Some teams rebuild and others reload. Northwestern's men's soccer program reinvents itself from year to year. No matter whether it's building around a high-powered attack or a dominating defense, the Wildcats have established themselves on the national scene and have earned invitations to the NCAA tournament four straight years.

Linebacker Bryce McNaul will be in the starting lineup against Vanderbilt on Saturday night, wearing jersey No. 51. McNaul was given the number made famous by coach Pat Fitzgerald. But he had to earn his starting weakside linebacker spot by emerging as the winner in the most competitive position battle of fall camp. Find out how he did it in this WildcatReport feature.
