The ninth-ranked Penn State men's volleyball team (14-2) fought to a 3-2 (33-31, 30-25, 26-30, 28-30, 16-14) victory against No. 11 UC Irvine (11-11) on Wednesday night. The Nittany Lions are back in action on Friday, March 12 vs. BYU at the Long Beach State Active Ankle Challenge.

The Penn State baseball team fell victim to strong two-out hitting as Texas A&M scored all seven of its runs with two outs on its way to a 7-0 win on Wednesday evening. The Penn State Nittany Lion softball team broke out of its four-game hitting slump in which it batted .144, getting eight hits and a four-run sixth inning to beat Saint Joseph's, 6-3, on Wednesday. Lisa Akamine (Escondido, Calif.) threw seven strong with just one earned run, while Cassidy Bell (Bakersfield, Calif.) went 2-for-3 with two runs in the third spot in the lineup.

The NCAA has announced the brackets for the 2010 NCAA Wrestling Championships to be held on March 18-20 and the Penn State Nittany Lion wrestlers have received four seeds. Head coach Cael Sanderson's will send six wrestlers to the event, led by senior Cyler Sanderson (Heber City, Utah), who will be the No. 4 seed at 157.

The Big Ten tournament turned out to be pretty disappointing for Penn State. They only managed to get 6 guys through to NCAAs, and they only had two guys wrestle above their seed. One of the two was Cyler Penn State's only Big Ten champion. He managed to win a Big Ten title without wrestling a single ranked wrestler. That has to be some sort of record.
