The ninth-ranked Penn State men's volleyball team (14-2) fought to a 3-2 (33-31, 30-25, 26-30, 28-30, 16-14) victory against No. 11 UC Irvine (11-11) on Wednesday night. The Nittany Lions are back in action on Friday, March 12 vs. BYU at the Long Beach State Active Ankle Challenge.

The Penn State Nittany Lion softball team broke out of its four-game hitting slump in which it batted .144, getting eight hits and a four-run sixth inning to beat Saint Joseph's, 6-3, on Wednesday. Lisa Akamine (Escondido, Calif.) threw seven strong with just one earned run, while Cassidy Bell (Bakersfield, Calif.) went 2-for-3 with two runs in the third spot in the lineup.

Penn State is the first Big Ten school to have its spring game featured on an ESPN network.

The NCAA has announced the brackets for the 2010 NCAA Wrestling Championships to be held on March 18-20 and the Penn State Nittany Lion wrestlers have received four seeds.
