Softball. Sixth-Inning Rally Lifts Houston Over Softball 4-2

A three-run sixth inning lifted the Houston Cougars over the Boilermaker softball team on Saturday night. Purdue will have a chance to avenge the 4-2 loss as the teams meet again at noon ET Sunday.

The Boilermakers wrapped up the conference meet with some of the best performances in program and Big Ten Championships history on Saturday. Purdue won two gold medals on the men's side and the women claimed one on the final day. The men finished fifth with 61 points, while the women were fifth with 53.

Purdue Baseball-Notches first win of 2014

The Boilers split the double header as the offense came alive. The Purdue Boilermakers split the doubleheader on Saturday vs Butler and host Samford. The team was originally scheduled to travel to Missouri State for a three game series but due to weather the series was canceled. Highlighted by a 3-2 victory against Butler that gave the Boilermakers their first win of the season, Purdue baseball split a pair of one-run games in doubleheader action against two different teams Saturday afternoon.

Upsets by Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum and Andjela Djokovic provided a strong singles surge for the 39th-ranked Purdue women's tennis team, but it wasn't enough as the Boilermakers fell short to No. 7 Northwestern, 4-3, Saturday at the Combe Tennis Center.

The 54th-ranked Purdue men's tennis team continued its winning ways by shutting out Bradley, 7-0, Saturday on the Basham Courts of the Schwartz Tennis Center.

The Boilermaker softball team hung with another Top 10 foe until the end, falling 4-1 despite a seventh-inning rally.

Purdue At Iowa: Preview, Odds, TV, Time, & More

Purdue heads to Iowa City to face a struggling Hawkeye team. Purdue gets another shot at beating a ranked team, though if the Hawkeyes lose on Sunday it will be their fourth consecutive loss and they will not be ranked for long. Purdue also likely needs another win (in addition to an assumed home win over Northwestern) to secure an NIT bid. Both teams are struggling at the moment and for Iowa, a fourth loss could see them hurtle closer to the Bubble for NCAA consideration. Projected Starter
